JJ-CCR Air Diluent CCR Diver
CLOSED CIRCUIT REBREATHER COURSE

This is the entry level certification course for divers wishing to utilize a closed-circuit rebreather (CCR) for air diving. The objective of the course is to train divers in the benefits, and proper procedures for diving a JJ-CCR and to develop basic CCR diving skills to a maximum depth of 30 metres, using air or nitrox as a diluent. No decompression diving is allowed on this course.

Course Prerequisites

  1. Minimum age 18
  2. Provide proof of 20 logged open water dives. If completing a unit crossover, provide proof of 10 logged CCR dives in the last 12 months
  3. Provide proof as a TDI nitrox Diver or equivalent from agencies recognized by TDI

Understanding the Theory of CCR Diving
– Basic principles, gas behavior, and how a closed-circuit system works.

Electronics Overview, Safety Protocols, and O₂ Cell Function
– How the electronic control system operates, sensor behavior, and essential safety checks.

Disassembly, Assembly, and Detailed Understanding of JJ-CCR Parts and Function
– Step-by-step handling of the unit, component recognition, and proper setup procedures.

Possible Configuration Options and Trim Adjustments
– Different equipment setups and how to optimize trim and comfort in the water.

Bailout Strategy and Gas Management at Various Depths
– Planning for emergencies, choosing bailout gases, and managing reserves.

Manually Operating the Rebreather and Responding to Possible Unit Failures
– Techniques for manual control and appropriate reactions to common malfunction scenarios.

 

Equipment Requirements:

  1.  Drysuit
  2.  Minimum 1 stage cylinder
  3.  Back up mask, cutting tools, buoy etc.
