JJ-CCR Advanced Mixed Gas CCR Diver
CLOSED CIRCUIT REBREATHER COURSE

This is the intermediate level certification course for divers wishing to utilize a closed-circuit rebreather (CCR) for mixed gas diving. The objective of the course is to train divers in the benefits, hazards and proper procedures for mixed gas diving on the unit specific CCR, utilizing a mixed gas diluent containing 16 percent or greater oxygen, and to develop intermediate CCR diving skills appropriate to technical diving to a maximum depth of 60 metres.

Course Prerequisites

  1. Minimum age 18
  2. Certified TDI CCR Mixed Gas Diluent diver, or equivalent from agencies recognized by TDI
  3. Provide proof of a minimum of 100 rebreather hours over a minimum of 100 dives; a minimum of 50 hours and 50 dives must be on the unit specific CCR. A minimum of 30 dives must be deeper than 30 metres and a minimum of 10 logged mixed gas CCR dives, after mixed gas diver training, must be deeper than 50 metres requiring staged decompression

What you can expect to learn:

Theory and Calculating Trimix Decompression Dives
– Understanding trimix use, depth planning, and creating safe decompression profiles.

Choosing the Suitable Decompression Strategy
– Selecting gradient factors, planning efficient ascent schedules, and adapting to conditions.

Hazards of Hypoxic Gas and How to Avoid Related Problems
– Recognizing risks of low-oxygen gases and ensuring safe procedures during gas switches and stage handling.

Different Bailout Strategies
– Planning bailout approaches for different depths, environments, and emergency situations.

Extended Bailout Scenarios with Up to Four Stages
– Managing complex bailout plans, large stage setups, and emergency gas transitions.

Bailout Procedures and Handling Multiple Stages
– Safe stage handling, gas switching, and maintaining control during emergency ascents.

Team Awareness and Working as a Reliable Team Member
– Communication, positioning, and mutual support during normal and emergency situations.

Ascending on a Lift Bag
– Safe deployment, controlled ascent, and stable decompression stops.

Semi-Closed Rebreather Mode
– Using SCR mode as a backup, understanding performance limits, and managing temporary failures.

Rebreather Rescue Skills
– Assisting a distressed CCR diver, managing failed units, and conducting safe recoveries.

Trimix Dives With Multiple Stages and Emergency Scenarios
– Applying all skills during complex dives, handling failures, and executing controlled responses.
